President’s Message

Home / President’s Message

Hi there, my name is David I’m thrilled and honoured to be serving as Venerable Dean for this fraternity for Winter 2021 to Fall 2021.

University is an incredible opportunity to learn, experiment, socialize and develop into the best possible version of yourself. It is my belief that growth happens when you push yourself just outside the boundaries of your comfort zone. After seeing the hard work the Carleton chapter was putting in to Frosh Week, Marching in Ottawa’s Pride parade and The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario’s bottle drive, I decided to take that challenge. The experience of pledging and becoming an active member of this brotherhood pushed me academically, physically and socially to be the man I am today. Since I’ve joined I’ve taken advantage of all the opportunities thrown my way including attending our Venerable Dean Summit this past winter. This event taught me invaluable life skills, and also opened me up to a world class network of hard working men across the continent.

Internationally, Acacia Fraternity is an organization which prides itself in excellence, academics, personal achievement, and most importantly human service. We believe in putting academic pursuits first over all campus obligations. Currently, there are just over 28 chapters and 5 colonies across the United States. Acacia was the first Fraternity to charter in the Capital over 30 years ago in 1989. Our local chapter’s alumni include the mayor of Ottawa Jim Watson, global business leaders, and members of the Canadian Armed Forces making our alumni association one of the oldest and most extensive networking opportunities a student in Ottawa can have.

Don’t miss out, Rush Acacia!

Fraternally ,

David Johnston
Venerable Dean
